Sulphuric Acid

"The time came when the suffering of others was not enough for them; they needed the spectacle of it, too"

Sulphuric Acid is set in an unspecified time and is about a reality TV death camp. It’s really interesting to read about how our attention and witnessing of atrocities is just as bad as carrying out the deed. The media and viewers get all riled up about the people who have been taken at random to the death camp, shouting that the politicians should never have allowed the show to go ahead … but still they watch it. Sure, perhaps in disgust and horror, but they still watch it. They give it its ratings. And isn’t that exactly what we all do with reality TV filth? The people on The Shire and Big Brother and Jersey Shore make us sick with their stupidity, but we still watch them. We might be laughing at them, but we give them their ratings which in turn condones their ridiculousness and makes them famous.

But I’ve gone off topic. This is a really short book, I read it in one afternoon, definitely worth the read. Very thought provoking.
